Kudos to the Special Education Advisory Council of Upper Dublin for hosting a community screening of the documentary “Intelligent Lives” by award-winning director Dan Habib.
The film was shown in honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. It highlighted the stories of three young adults with intellectual disabilities (Micah, Naieer and Naomie) who are navigating high school, college, the work force and community life. The film and the discussion featuring local self-advocates who showed us that when these traditionally marginalized students are educated in inclusive settings with the right supports and expectations, they thrive.
