A new analysis commissioned by advocates seeking to overhaul the state’s education funding system found that Pennsylvania’s public school children are being shortchanged by $4.6 billion. The conclusions depict widening gaps in education spending between affluent and poor communities — and divides in academic performance.
The analysis, prepared for a Commonwealth Court judge, is the latest component of a years long legal battle to address school funding inequities, one that could intensify as the case moves toward trial.
