Holly Meade stood in front of the Scranton School Board on Wednesday night and suggested launching a campaign to bring the district’s financial concerns to the state capitol.
She was among two dozen teachers and residents who attended the last of three public budget hearings. Directors have until the end of the month to balance the proposed $166 million spending plan, which contains a deficit between $5.1 million and $6.6 million, depending on whether the district makes several requested hires.
Meade, a teacher at Northeast Scranton Intermediate School, said cutting the budget will only get the board so far.
