Did you know that 70% of school districts in Pennsylvania are getting shortchanged by the state? That means one million of our students are attending an underfunded school!
Your child and every child in our community deserves a public school with good teachers, up-to-date textbooks and technology, and extra help when they need it.
Your child should have great teachers.
Your child should have clean, safe, fully-equipped classrooms.
Those classrooms should have textbooks and technology to help students reach their full potential.
Your school district should have the funding to provide all of that, but that’s not happening across Pennsylvania.
Here’s the problem:
Our state government is not doing its part, leaving most schools underfunded. Wealthier communities in Pennsylvania are able to spend THOUSANDS MORE PER CLASSROOM than those in less well off school districts. What would it mean for children in underfunded districts if their schools could spend much more in their classrooms?
PA’s highest court said that the education funding system is unconstitutional, but the state has provided no timeline for when they’ll fix it. It’s going to take all our voices to make sure our children get what they need and deserve.
